The Wood River Fire & Rescue Fire Fighters' Association was founded in 2002. Made up of a
five member volunteer board and guided by a membership of 30 - 35 Wood River Fire & Rescue Firefighters & EMT's,
the Association's goal is to take the extra step in helping our community by raising money that will
directly or indirectly go to help the constituents we serve.
Directly, we have a victim's relief fund that provides funds to those in our area who have suffered tragedy in their lives. This includes a burn out fund for fire victims, donations to scholarship funds for children who have lost a parent, and direct donations to victims of vehicle accidents or other traumatic events. Indirectly, we support the firefighters and EMT's of Wood River Fire & Rescue by providing equipment to make their work easier and more efficient, subsidizing training that the department itself does not have the budget for, and reimbursing tuition costs for members who have chosen to send themselves through Paramedic school. All of these expenditures allow our firefighters and EMT's to provide better service within our district. Mission StatementIt is the mission of the Wood River Fire and Rescue Firefighters' Association to provide assistance, in times of need, to those affected by tragedy. In addition, the Association will support the Firefighters of Wood River Fire & Rescue with additional training, equipment, and assistance in an effort to provide the most comprehensive fire protection and emergency medical services to the community. |
